Education Alternatives in Omaha Nebraska

The Omaha Public Schools district is in charge of all public schools in the Omaha region, and has 60 elementary schools, 11 middle schools and 8 high schools under its control. These include Rose Hill Elementary School, Monroe Middle School, and Benson High School. The OPS also offers 5 schools with alternative programs, which provide additional learning opportunities for students with behavioral and learning disorders or other disabilities.


Omaha also has a selection of 65 private schools within its borders, consisting of 50 elementary schools covering grades Pre-kindergarten to grade 8, 7 high schools covering grades 9 to 12, and 8 schools which cover the full range of grades, or are ungraded. These schools include Duchesne Academy, Holy Ghost School, Omaha Hearing School For Children, and St. Agnes Mission School.


In post-secondary education, the Jesuit Catholic university Creighton University is just one of the institutions which serve the Omaha community. Nationally known and ranked as the best University to earn a Master's Degree in the Midwest, Creighton is known as a solid natural science school, its schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Emergency Medical Services and Nursing well-supported. Other post-secondary institutions in the area include the University of Nebraska's Omaha campus (The second-largest of its campuses, next to their Lincoln campus), and the Omaha Metropolitan Community College.
